Career options
Now this is a timely meme! *g* Nabbed from
lafemmedarla:
1. Go to http://www.careercruising.com/.
2. Put in Username: nycareers, Password: landmark.
3. Take their "Career Matchmaker" questions.
4. Post the top fifteen results.
1. Curator
You know what, that would be *awesome*.
2. Operations Research Analyst
What on earth is this? *scratches head*
3. Health Care Administrator
You mean like what I was doing two years ago? Not so much.
4. Anthropologist
*loves*
5. Clergy
*laughs* I think they'd have a few issues with me!!
6. Actuary
Let's see... not while slow, painful death remains an option.
7.Money Manager
Hmmm, well, that was *five* years ago. I'm sensing a trend...
8. Logistics Specialist
This would work, I think.
9. Certified Public Accountant
Oh Dear God. *facepalm*
10. Research Analyst (Financial)
Meh. I could do it, I suppose.
11. Lobbyist
YES!!
12. Politician
See above re: death, painful.
13. Corporate / Commercial Lawyer
Again, YES.
14. Historian
DITTO.
15. Judge
YES.
Other notables included a criminologist, an environmental consultant, a professor and an activist.
All in all, the first few were things I'd done already, the last few were things I'd want to do, and the others lower down on the list were pipedreams. (There comes a day in every person's life when they realise that they are never going to be an astronaut. That day was on Tuesday. Woe.)
In conclusion, WTF as a general rule.

In other events - a very Happy New Year to all on my list who are celebrating.

Did you have any brilliant revelations while you were gone?
P.S. I don't see any reason why you couldn't be a lawyer; if you like it, law school should be easy-peasey. And corporations hire tons more lawyers (and pay them better!) than the judicial system or private practices.

#9 on the list. *g* I tell people they're stupid with money. And then charge them for the privilege.

I did, actually, yeah - stay put until something extraordinary comes up. I've got a decent job with one of the Big 4, a good wage, and am accummulating experience and they're paying for my finance qualification. So I could do worse.

*g* I totally would (I did a little human rights law for my postgrad), except that I already owe £30k courtesy of my undergrad & postgrad. The conversion courses don't come cheap, and there's no guaranteed job at the end of it. Besides which, I'd rather go into lobbying or fieldwork, which requires general competency, rather than specialisation.
