shallowness

So, yeah, I was going to post a socio-political commentary on, erm, things here, but I'm poorly and my brain isn't working. So, more tax for me and more fandom for you. See how well that works out?

Is anyone else vaguely worried by the promo pictures of Francis Capra as Weevil is S3 of Veronica Mars? While I'm aiming for depth and excitement that we get more Weevil full stop, I can't help but think -

OMG, he looks awful. Like Mr Potato Head. Why, costume&make-up dept, why???

Apostrophes! Epiphanies! A veritable cornucopia of punctuation!

*headdesk* I cannot believe it took me this long to realise this! Lilly Kane is The Basic Eight's Natasha! OMFG, how could it take me this long to realise it???

Let's look at the facts:

1. Both are fabulous
2. Both are precocious in their sexuality
3. Both have friends who would be fabulous if only they weren't overshadowed by their more glamorous, fabulous Lilly/Natasha friend-beast.
4. Both mess it up for said best friend by virtue of their absence*.

If you haven#'t read The Basic Eight, it's a tale of murder, satanism, sexual awakening and cultism... except that it isn't, not even a little bit. It's very fun, at any rate, and it's done by Daniel Handler, he of the Lemony Snicket (A Series of Unfortunate Events) fame. Go check it out.

ETA: I forgot to mention - both are seniors in a West Coast High School that is soon rocked by a shocking murder. And did I mention that they are so fabulous they turn even teachers' heads? Well. They are.

*well, sort of. I'm more inclined to forgive Natasha this than Lilly, to be fair.

Veronica Mars

So, I've just finishd watching the entire first season and epsiodes 2.3, 2.4, 2.5 and 2.6, courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] selenak and [livejournal.com profile] monanotlisa. (episodes 2.1 and 2.2 have eluded me for the time being, but I shall locate them forthwith)thoughts )
In other news, [livejournal.com profile] athena25 got my beta-ed remix back to me with the verdict of, "it's fluff. You can do better." It felt like my english teacher had come to haunt me. Also, it's not precisely fluffy or anything, but the absence of plot upset her. So now I have to create plot. Damnit.

I am also down with a cold - again. Gosh, that didn't take long, did it? But I sound like sandpaper when I talk and/or breathe. So that's good. *cough*
