Incognito

I am so zoned out right now. I had a work do last night, and they took us to Incognito, which was splendiferous. It was actually my post-Panto wardrobe department thank-you meal, and, yes, almost the only work social event I've been able to get to because of a variety of reasons. This one was odd, because we were gathered through our love of theatre and/or fundraising, rather than through similar work interests. So, it was me, some lawyers, some secretaries, some marketeers, some HR people - all the different people I wouldn't otherwise meet working at Employers (tm). And it was nice. We had some truly lovely drinks - the dessert wine, in particular, was delicious (Moscato Passito di Pantelleria di Ben Rye, for those interested), although I stuck to cocktails for the rest of the night.

The restaurant itself was nice - a bit on the pricey side for what you get, but the maitre d' was certainly attentive enough to make up for it. The food was nice, albeit not remarkable, but the desserts more than made up for it. I had the best creme brulee I've ever had, and I'd rec this restraurant for that alone.

Well. That and the French Martinis they serve, which were a delight.

At any rate, I had a great many foods that I'm actually not allowed at the moment (dairy, wheat, alcohol, anything with any taste), so I am seriously suffering this morning with cramps and dizziness. But, man, it was worth it.

Do you notice how slowly time goes when you're stuck at work Friday afternoon?

I'm currently checking a list of numbers against an almost-identical list of numbers.

Oh, yeah, those five years at university? So totally worth it.

Taken from [livejournal.com profile] penknife. My first fandom was Babylon 5, as it was the first fandom i wrote stuff for, and thought up stories for. Technically, ST:TOS was the first show I ever devoted myself to watching, but as I was about ten years old, I didn't register it as anything more than entertainment. Babylon 5 made me sit up and take notice, and it formed my perceptions of what being a fan actually entailed. Later on, I would apply those lessons back to the ST:TOS as a reader - never a writer - and to the Buffyverse as both.

Five things Babylon 5 taught me about fandom )

I would have posted this as a comment, but it exceeded the max. word count, so -

As requested - albeit, very late - a ficlet with the first line given as a prompt. It's meant to be J/N, I swear! Only, erm, Arvin wanted to talk instead. The J/N is, erm, subtext. And it was done in, like, five minutes, so, er, you are not to deny me food in retribution!!

Title: Tourist
Set post-S4, but no spoilers for S5.
