Today has been pretty much a write-off in that I mostly stared in dismay at the huge amount of reading I did over the past year, and cursed myself for taking so many notes. It's going to take me forever to reread my notes, it is now clear. Bumsticks. Still, no panic as yet, which is a good sign.
Other than that, I've been reading
likeadeuce's reactions to S3 Babylon 5 and sighing wistfully because there isn't anything similar I can distract myself with for a first-time viewing. I suppose that there's always the option of a 34756437523th time viewing, but somehow it's not the same.
In the world of gay porn, I've been reading Sawyer/Jack fics, which have varied in quality but rarely in content. Either it's an AU - as in, Sawyer's a fireman or Jack's a gigolo or something - in which case I'm not that interested, or they're on the island, and then... they have sex. This is somewhat disappointing. They're on an island where anything - and everything - happens, and all they can manage is just some "we haven't had any in a while so d'you fancy a go?" sex? That's just a let-down. What's also disappointing is the lack of any fics dealing with the everyday problems of the island. I suppose this ties in to my K/S preference of "yes, you can have the slash, but I want a good plot to be happening
at the same time", in that I don't
want to read just sex. Where's my Swiss Family Robinson attempts to make a hammock? And what do the women do for things like sanitary wear? OK, not the most romantic of questions but, damnit, that's one of the first things that occurs to me about 'desrt island' fics: sanitation, food, water and shelter, and sanitation is usually ignored.
Also, I have a picture on my wall of the British Olympic silver medalist in badminton, and I've just realised that he looks like Jack and Sawyer's love-child, which is wrong on many, many levels.

Anyway. I'm bored. If anyone wants to distract me, comment with a fandom and character/pairing, and maybe a word or phrase for a prompt, and I shall scribble away.
*twiddles thumbs*
