Off to lunch with the boys, but oh, God, I love this so much--I was *waiting* for this to be about Laura, an old story and not the new one our eyes and minds are so accustomed to, yet wondering if it would fit and could fit--

but your stories always fit. This is fantastic, and apart from the marvel of your Irina (enigmatic, coiled strength, grace), your Jack voice remains a thing of danger, power, and, of course, beauty.

Also, it has Jack's cat, or rather a previous cat of Jack's since this is thirty-odd years ago. I shoul have mentioned in my post that mention of anyone's cat gets you bonus points *g*.

Yay for Jack ficlets! And I sort of like the idea that Irina had to be a little more Irina (and a little less "Laura") to get the romance started. Thank you so much for doing this for me!

And yet still I lack fic with the canonical cat in it. Hmm. Unsuspected hunger must be satiated.
