So, I have this kick-ass idea for what I want to do for Multiverse only, like last year, it's sort of looking at me and going, "wahey, you could write a book! You totally could!" And I am forced to beat my brains out against the nearest wall.
Anyway. Like New Year's Resolutions, only these are things I hope to actually keep for the rest of the year -
10 Fandom-related things Victoria will not do this year:
1) I won't sign up to any more challenges this year, except possibly
yuletide (and that's only because that's far enough away to be ok).
2) I won't let the Multiverse story turn into a novel. Because when May 30th comes, you know that I'll be in tears at having to cut an entire third that doesn't fit the challenge criteria.
3) I won't spend so long researching the 1602 / A:TS crossover I have promised
selenak that I forget to actually write it.
4) Ditto for the leo mcgarry story I have due. Political process stories are all well and good, but when you end up curled up in the corner of your room reading about Islamist extremism in French - and my French isn't exactly up to the task - you know that it's not research but a hysterical displacement activity and I should just give in and go to work.
5) Sixteen different drab ficlets that should have been sixteen different hot little drabbles are a waste of words and energy. If it wants to be a drabble, let it be a drabble. I promise to stop belabouring the point.
6) Angst is all well and good but it is rather sixth-form on occasion. write a happy ending, at least once.
7) I'm not going to promise anyone any smut, because it makes me uncomfortable to have to write it, rather than to want to write it.
8) I'm going to stop feeling guilty for defriending Harry Potter communities. It's okay to take a break from a fandom every now and then.
9) I'm going to clear out the masses of clutter I have left in my parents house as a child, and give all those fandom-related things I no longer want to a charity store, where they can do some good. Same goes for the endless amounts of clutter I have here, actually, only it's not fandom related so it doesn't really count just yet...
10) I'm not going to buy any more box sets for 'completeness'. 'Completeness' is not our friend. It makes us poor. It eats up our time. Besides which, I have a stack of DVDs that I have not yet watched that will take me months to get through - and the excitement of torrenting - and therefore I do not need season 1 of House. I will not drop down dead without it. Indeed, curbing the spending? Generally a good thing.
And if I don't stick to them, you are fully entitled to hit me with things.
