We would like to know who really believes in gay rights on livejournal. There is no bribe of a miracle or anything like that. If you truly believe in gay rights, then repost this and title the post as "Gay Rights". If you don't believe in gay rights, then just ignore this. Thanks.

I'm of two minds about this meme -
1) on the one hand, I dislike anything that says 'if you don't believe in this just ignore it', because it makes someone out to not care when, really, they just didn't check their lj or don't like memes or whatever. it strikes me as a bit chain-letter-y and it doesn't do anything other than piss people off.
however - and this is the reason i added it -
2) it's more a reminder to myself than anything else, because i think that i've been too fandom-focused and haven't had any politics focus in my internal musings recently, which is frustrating. it's not that i can't find the words to say what i think, it's that, lately, i haven't been thinking much at all. so it's more of a kick up the arse to myself than to those who are reading my lj.
So, yeah. I'm not treating it as a meme, but it's a reminder that, once upon a time, i'd lie awake at night and worry about all the things i could be doing to help and whether i was doing enough with my life. i don't know whether i am less stressed or whatever, but i sort of want that anxiety back - at least it made me think.

actually, um, yeah, i might amend the original entry to have this wee explanation with it. 'cause self-notes? well and good. emotional blackmail, less so.
