Xmas Wishes

leyenn. I didn't do this last year because I wasn't organised enough, but, anyway, here it is this year. Similar in certain respects to my general wishes for more fanfic using certain techniques, but a lot more specific because it's all about ME ME ME!!!
Step One
Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf—to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not—it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
1. Nothing anyone here can grant but I'd really like a month of health. I'm not asking for more than that, but - just a month of uninterrupted health, no sniffles, no heart issues, no parental health issues, no smear tests, no nothing. Just a blissful four and a half weeks of no doctors.
2. I'd like to see the Louvre again. I have a week off in February and I'd love to go, but everyone around here is busy and I'd like to go with someone who is as geeky about Museums as I am. So, yeah - a couple of days of uninterrupted geeking out in the Louvre, followed by a couple of days of uninterrupted geeking out at the British Museum.
3. I'd like a really, really good sci-fi book that builds an entire world, on the level of Dune or the Mars trilogy. I don't need it bought for me, I just want to know which one it is.
4. I'd like to not fail my exams. Please, Santa, make the exams decent. I'm not asking for easy exams, but I'd rather not go in there and find that the compulsory questions are all about how to choose a printer, like what happened in June. Because that would suck.
5. Now that I'm actually able to contemplate dating again, I'd like for one - just one - of the guys I get on with and have fun with to not have a girlfriend living abroad. That's just cruel. It makes him almost-but-not-quite available, because she's not there, but she sorta is. Stop it, it's not cool.
6. I'd like to feel like I didn't waste two years of my life doing my post-grad. Not sure how to achieve that, but a good start would be having my graduation on Dec 14th not be a joke. I'm taking it seriously because I put a lot of work into it, and I'd like it to not suck. Please.
7. I'd like bread & butter pudding, or carrot cake, or banoffee pie. Because they are yummy.
8. I'd like a new show that gets me as thoroughly as B5 or Carnivale or Deadwood, or that makes me as happy as L&C, or CSI, or Sex & the City. Something new and fresh, or a gem that I'd previously missed - something new to keep me going over the exam period.
9. I'd like someone to write me a fic. No particular request - just a fic, all for me. I'd really like that.
10. I'd like snow on Christmas. Please.
And while we're on the topic of Xmas, if you would like a Christmas card, comment below with your address and I'll send one out to you. All the comments are screened for anonymity.
