I don't normally read works in progress, but this fandom has a surprising number of exceptionally good stories. It is a great pity that 'Balance' has been abandoned, as it is very imaginative indeed. Started before OotP - making it an A/U - it has everything from epic battles involving the Founders to half the school jumping rope and singing songs. Oh, and it keeps everyone in character, too. Snape is dead. Eight months later, he isn't. Written pre-OotP, set in the seventh year, this is somewhat!evil!Lucius and somewhat!crazy!Snape. And it's bloody scary.

Meepie! I just read this and man oh man, is it wonderful! Pettigrew's adoration of Snape is a touch too purple for my tastes, but the careful reasoning behind his betrayal of the Potters is well worth the read. I often have trouble with coward!Peter as I prefer to think of the Sorting Hat having some idea of what it's doing, and this version of Pettigrew's courage is just lovely. This fic is slow, careful and has brave!traitor!Pettigrew to boot. Mmmmmm.
