*head under sand* look! Recs!
1 Dec 2004 05:42 pmI'm writing, damnit, I'm writing! Post-edit rewrite of
merry_smutmas fic to be ready by 8pm GMT so that
athena25 can do secondary edit (primary edit was structured around a "This bit sucks the most. This bit sucks the least." stratagem) whereby, hopefully, it won't suck.
BUT!!!
Go here to consider, reflect and meditate (should I add a spew warning? Naah, that'll take the fun out of it...).
Also.
Go here to read "Quark's Day" by
selenak. Now, we all know about my long-standing love of all things
selenak, whereby I was adding her fics to my favourites lists before I was even aware that such a thing as livejournal.com existed. However, I was still initially sceptical about a Quark-centric story. Then I read it. Unfortunately, I read it at work, and so when I got sniffly and teary-eyed, I had a lot of explaining to do to my boss. Pet the Quark. The Quark is now loved.
So. Go read it and leave loving feedback. Or I'll know the reason why.

Date: 2004-12-05 12:02 am (UTC)Not enough! *prods you* I can't find any more online, and you have me looking, and it's entirely your/i> fault, because I'd never have been looking otherwise, and think of all those other poor souls now equally as fascinated!
*prods you some more*
Write some more Quark!fic.
/kangeiko has embraced the metaphysical, 'ask, and someone shall provide it for you' in a more literal sense.
Re: bah, humbug
Date: 2004-12-05 08:56 am (UTC)Now you know how I felt when looking for some Quark fic to begin with. I found only this little gem, which is superb, though:
"Absinthe Heart" (http://seema.org/myfanfic/ds9/absinthe.html)
About mine own stuff: I assume you've read my other two lengthy Quark tales, "The One Who Got Away" (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2011538/1/) and "Two of Us" (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2102099/1/).
But I also wrote Quark-related short fic for
"Those Billy Bilder Blues" (http://www.livejournal.com/community/celestial_templ/8468.html)
"Elements" (http://www.livejournal.com/community/celestial_templ/996.html)
"Senses" (http://www.livejournal.com/community/celestial_templ/3353.html)
Now, if you want me to write more, hand over the Londo/G'Kar OR do something for the Ferengi community and try your own hand at a drabble or two.*g*
(Just kidding. I'll certainly write more Quark.)
Re: bah, humbug
Date: 2004-12-07 11:00 pm (UTC)So I printed these off this morning and settled back into bed, thoroughly ill (yes, madam boss, I am ill as an ill thing and cannot make it in at all) and oh, the Quark!love! "Two of Us" was so sweet, it made me want to pat his bald little head!
I must confess that I was quite lost during "TOWGA", but I suspect that this is because I stopped watching DSN after the Dukat-and-Kira-flirt-on-a-Klingon-ship episode sometime in season 4. I never did take much of an interest in the Dominion, so... But! Quark!love nonetheless! (not Odo!love; Odo doesn't deserve any love, the mean thing, hmpf) Is the girl, Chiana, from Farscape? is that right?
Also - Ferengi communty? One never knew such a place existed. Now, if one was theoretically considering exploring such options, where might one find this place?

Thanks. I had that feeling repeatedly during the show; among other occasions when he went on that quest with Worf and Bashir and Worf postured about Quark coming along, whereupon my favourite Ferengi said: "I loved Jadzia as much as anyone in this room."
If you haven't seen beyond "Return to Grace" (said Kira/Dukat ep), I'm not surprised you get confused. The Quark 'n Odo action is set during a season 5 episode which is actually great fun, since the temporarily solid Odo and Quark crashland on a planet, and bicker entertainingly throughout. However, at the end, it's Quark, not Odo, who saves the day.*g*
You should give the later seasons a try, though. They're full of arc-y goodness and moral ambiguity (see Sisko hire Garak to bring the Romulans into the war; see Sisko cover up a murder or two Garak commits in the process).
Ferengi community: I was joking, or rather, parodying a standard phrase mothers used to tell their kids in Germany ages ago(not so much today). "Tu deinen Teil für..." (Do your part for - insert appropriate larger community here.)
However, I found some more Quark for you. A while ago, I went all meta and wrote a lengthy essay on him, here (http://www.livejournal.com/community/ds9agogo/78530.html). And there is a another story (by
Yes, Chiana is from Farscape. This story was originally written for a crossover challenge.

Date: 2004-12-24 08:31 pm (UTC)Ah, maybe if Santa is good to me this year...
I'd have to start pretty much at the beginning again, though, which I suppose is half the fun. I hadn't seen any of B5 for years and so could barely remember any of it (while I was still reasonably aware of the Bester-centric episodes, the rest were mostly a blank in my head) and so sat down and watched it as if anew. *g* Sooooo much fun!
