Fannish 5: Favourite fictional parents
1) Molly Weasley (Harry Potter) Hands down my favourite mother-figure of any fandom. She has her flaws, but she manages to keep the entirety of the Weasley clan in check, and is also, as it turns out, brick-hard.
2) Joyce Summers (Buffy) Another mother-of-soldier. Joyce started out more or less a comic figure - things being kept from her; the final hurdle the Slayer must overcome for a quiet life - but rapidly developed. She cares deeply about both her daughters, and is fierce in protecting them. ("Get away from my daughter!" anyone?)
3) Jack Bristow (Alias) For whom love means turning his little girl into a trained assassin. Well, it takes all sorts. Anyway, my favourite 'dad' moment for Jack is him exposing himself to deadly radiation... because that's what dads do, when their little ones are threatened.
4) Lynette (Desperate Housewives) For that moment in Season one where she breaks down and says, "I love my boys so much... I'm so sorry they have me as a mother." *loves her unconditionally*
5) Narcissa Malfoy (Harry Potter) For asking Harry if Draco is alive - and then lying to Voldemort. It does my heart a world of good.

Date: 2007-07-29 08:51 pm (UTC)I was furious for a few days, and was dodging phone calls etc because I was actually too angry to speak to anyone. Which helps rage-building, 'cause then you can stew by yourself.
But then both of them did catch up with me, independently and in person, and offered actual, proper, lengthy apologies. Which were actually v. good, as apologies go. And I'm absolutely crappy at holding grudges, especially if whoever has already apologised. So.
Le sigh. I'm never going to be a slytherin.

BUT I WANT TO BE BITTER AND TORTURED ZOMG!! All the best characters are. Clearly, I'm ending up in Hufflepuff. Woe.
Ooooh! I have new underwear! *dances* No one can be angry when they have NEW UNDERWEAR.

Date: 2007-07-31 01:40 pm (UTC)I had a weird, weird thought. Was Umbridge in Hufflepuff? Because she's all about Teh Loyaltay!! (tm), and, also, who would suspect a cat-obsessed pink-dressed Hufflepuff? Clearly the next dark lord... (or pink lady, as the case may be...)
