And part 3. Films I've seen are in bold.

Part 1 | Part 2

Empire's 500 Greatest Movies Of All Time (Part 3: 300-201)

300. Sawdust and Tinsel
299. The Palm Beach Story
298. Le Cercle Rouge
297. It Happened One Night
296. All The President's Men
295. The Untouchables - I remember quite liking this, but not really remembering much of it. I remember the bit where they're all in the lift, does that count?
294. The Red Balloon
293. La Maman Et La Putain
292. La Belle Et La Bete
291. Rocco And His Brothers
290. Rashomon - I'm certain that I must have seen this, but maybe I've reconstructed it from all the stuff I've read on it, so maybe not. (You see what I did there?)
289. John Carpenter's The Thing
288. Who Framed Roger Rabbit - the soundtrack for this is winging its way over to me as we speak. Love it.
287. Secrets and Lies - don't remember much of it, but I remember that I liked it a lot.
286. L'Avventura
285. Solaris (original)
284. Scarface - again, don't remember much, only that it was bloody and the bathroom scene was icky. Gosh, I'm a font of fascinating opinions today, aren't I?
283. Ran - haven't seen this, but desperately want to. I need to get a set of Kurosawa movies, basically.
282. The Godfather Part III - of course.
281. Interview with the Vampire - *sigh* Yes. I own it, too. And read all the books as a teen. And loved Lestat madly, too. Any more shame you wish to heap on my house?
280. Mad Max 2 - I remember seeing the first one and the third one, but not this, so let's assume I haven't.
279. National Llampoon's Animal House
278. Carlito's Way
277. On The Town
276. Layer Cake - ooh, Daniel Craig! And a spiffing good movie, too. Better than Lock, Stock, any day.
275. My Neighbour Totoro
274. Sin City - saw it, hated it.
273. The Maltese Falcon
272. The Bird with the Crystal Plumage
271. Pee-Wee's Big Adventure
270. The Death of Mr Lazarescu
269. A Place in the Sun
268. The Lady Vanished
267. Crimes and Misdemeanours
266. Ghost World - saw it, dearly died from the dull. Wasn't this supposed to be kooky and fun? Did those bits get edited out?
265. A.I. Artificial Intelligence - did we watch the same movie??? Gigolo Joe??? What on earth is this doing here??
264. American Graffiti
263. Das Boot - apparently I am the only person who ever thought this refered to a boot and not a boat. Mock now, while there's still time.
262. The Virgin Suicides - beautiful and soft and lovely and perfect.
261. Roman Holiday - Oh, Audrey, you are so very beautiful!
260. Field of Dreams - I don't know baseball from Adam, frankly, but this still made me tear up.
259. Groundhog Day - Yay, I love this! Again with the Andy McDowell hate, but I love, er, his name's gone right out of my head, the lead. Yeah, that bloke wot was in Ghostbusters. Hey, Ghostbusters better on here at some point...
258. The Blues Brothers
257. The Black Cat
256. Le Quai Des Brumes
255. Ninotchka
254. The Verdict
253. First Blood
252. The Leopard - I had the luck to see this at the cinema, when they did a restored version screening up in Edinburgh. It's stunning and heart-breaking. I think I may love it as much as I love Gone with the Wind.
251. Darling
250. Sunrise
249. My Darling Clementine
248. Pandora's Box
247. All That Jazz
246. The Philadelphia Story
245. Downfall
244. Dazed and Confused
243. Heimat
242. King Kong (1935 version)
241. Brighton Rock
240. Forrest Gump - Feel-good, without fail.
239. Cinema Paradiso
238. Requiem for a Dream
237. Delicatessen
236. Black Narcissus - I so want to see this! Someone find me a copy that doesn't cost a million squillion pounds. Killer lesbian nuns, c'mon!!
235. Battle Royale - Went to see it with my brother when it first came out at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and scared the audience by laughing hysterically at all the funny parts. Of which there were plenty, thank you.
234. The Bourne Ultimatum
233. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom - I may love this one most of all. Not because it's the best, but because Indy wins. And because of the bugs. Ewww, bugs.
232. Jurassic Park - Saw it at the cinema, marvelled alongside everyone else. May finish up this post and go rewatch it, as a matter of fact. Isn't Jeff Goldblum splendid in it??
231. Shaun of the Dead - funny and scary and made of tea and bicuits and the occasional pint amidst zombies. Love it.
230. Howl's Moving Castle - nice, but I didn't much like the character of Howl, which sorta put a downer on it. I lived that the girl - Sophie? - didn't go back to being perfect and young and pretty, however.
229. Festen
228. No Country for Old Men
227. Leon - it made me fall in love with Natalie Portman. My God, that girl can act. When he opens the door and the light hits her and she heaves this heavy sob, and - gaaaah, I'm tearing up.
226. Romeo + Juliet
- awww, this is a fun movie. The soundtrack kicks ass, too.
225. Get Carter
224. Distant Voices, Still Lives
223. Safe
222. Mother and Son
221. McCabe & Mrs Miller
220. Far From Heaven - I remember it being set - in the 50s? And it had an interracial affair, or something, and it was scandalous... something I watch while half-asleep at my parents' house. It seemed nice, though.
219. The Outlaw Josey Wales
218. M. Hulot's Holiday
217. The Magnificent Seven
216. Sunday Bloody Sunday
215. Jackie Brown - dull. dull dull dull.
214. Army of Shadows
213. Songs from the Second Floor
212. M
211. Moulin Rouge! - glorious technicolour! I love it. Also, all her clothing. And the music makes me laugh and want to sing along.
210. Platoon
209. Local Hero
208. The Departed
207. The Misfits
206. The Exorcist - saw it at the cinema during a rescreening one Halloween (I recall having just turned 18, as well). Petrifying, although no nightmares, because I don't play with ouiji boards. (Sometimes the logic part of my brain works. *g*)
205. The Addiction
204. The Bride of Frankenstein
203. Life of Brian - haven't we *all* seen this?
202. The Killer
201. JFK
26/100 - a poor showing in this part, it'll bring the whole score down. *le sigh* It was all those classics in there, I need to diversify my watching...
