New Who.

I am already seeing the howls of outrage/dismay issuing forth from the flist and other places. Guys, calm down, ok? You can crucify him after he actually starts playing the part, not just for the mere idea of it. I know some people have legitimate reasons to be pissed off about the choice but, c'mon, threatening to never watch the show again? Threatening actual physical violence? Let's get some perspective in there, at least until he's had a chance to do an episode or two and let the David Tennant fans get properly murderous, ok?

O_O People are freaking out that bad? Really?

I'm a little put off by how young he is (a Doctor that's very nearly my own age, OMGWTF?!) and by his hair (it looks like David Tennant's hair had a wild weekend with Robert Pattinson's hair, then they abandoned their illegitimate offspring on his head), and I am a little disappointed that he's not James Nesbitt (I had my heart set on him for Eleven), but in general, I'm mostly curious to see how he does.

He's a year younger than me. I find that I have already reached the age where people will be younger than me. This is somewhat disconcerting. But, then, some people are just good, and I shouldn't hold his age against him. Frankly, I just don't care that much yet - is that bad? I might care if he's awful, but he hasn't done anything yet. I'm finding all the hysteria a little bewildering.

He's a year and some change older than me, the closest any Doctor has ever been in my lifetime to my own age. (Peter Davison was twenty-nine, but that was before I was born.)

I don't see anything wrong with not caring much yet. We've still got three or four specials to slog through. (Can you tell I'm a little tired of RTD?) There's no point in getting hysterical now.

Personally, I don't exactly mind that he's young, but I really hope that means they'll give him a Companion that looks like she's old enough to be his mum. I wanna see him and such a Companion fall into a parent/child dynamic. (Remember when it wasn't required that Companions be in love with him? ::sigh:: )

I completely agree. I didn't think I'd like the tenth Doctor after having SUCH a huge thing for the ninth and that completely turned around. The same thing has happened with EVERY new companion and I've been pleasantly surprised every time. So I, like you, am giving him a shot.
