An awfully big adventure

kangeikoI spent today packing. I have two suitcases and two carry-on bags, which is perhaps more luggage than I have ever attempted to take any place in my entire life. I emigrated with fewer possessions. It boggles my mind how I can possibly need this much stuff, although I am marginally appeased that at least half of the larger suitcase and one of the carry-on bags is full of work-related nonsense. One of these days I shall travel without a laptop and I shall die happy.
I had a last-minute shopping day with my mother, where I secured the necessities - memory card for my camera, divine mocha 40s mac from FWM, pink cashmere wrap/jumper for the plane, silk white skirt for the office and a peach knitted summer dress that is so adorable (and yes, also 40s) that I fell in love with it at first sight. Alas, the mushroom silk organza dress with contrasting aqua embroidery and sash had to go back, as it was too big, and too ornate to be able to be taken in. Designers, take note - unless it's bespoke, make sure it can be altered!
Tomorrow, I start my ridiculously convoluted journey to Ouagadougou, so I shall say goodbye and adieu now. I shall take many, many pictures, and shall inflict them on you upon my return. Have a lovely time, everyone, I will be back in a month!
