Gacked from __marcelo because it is just too hilarious: Economics comics blog, i.e. a blog dedicated to the economics in comic books. Genius. My favourite so far is Where Does the Canadian Government Get the Money from to Keep Making Super-Soldiers? Although I also greatly enjoyed Norman Osborn's 4th quarter expenditure analysis, particularly the orange bits.

I spend altogether too much time wondering about how the finances of fictional universes work. I'd love to see a blog about the economics of TV shows and movies. First up: "Is the Stargate Program affordable during the current economic recession?"

inorite?? I'm personally confused about Star Trek money. I mean, no one earns anything. They don't have to work to get the stuff they want. So why does anyone bother turning up to work? I mean, I can understand if they love their job. But there's plenty of filing clerks kicking around the Federation that would probably prefer to be living it large on Risa. So what's up with that?

I do love B5 for just these reasons, in that their economy is just as fucked up as ours, and for the same damn reasons! They even have strikes. :)
