Also, courtesy of eye_of_a_cat, Total Sci-fi's 25 women who shook science fiction. An interesting selection, and not necessarily the ones I would have chosen. (Rose Tyler? I haven't seen the original Doctor Who, but shouldn't Ace be on there?) Actually sod it, read eye's post for an analysis instead, as my brother has just reminded me that I need to be out the door in ten minutes!

We've been having a great discussion about that list over on backward_heels. And I really just have to paraphrase my original reaction:

Rose Freaking Tyler is #7, but Zoe Washburn, Aeryn Sun, Kira Nerys, B'Elanna Torres, Leela, Ace McShane, and Jadzia Dax didn't even make the list?! BULL. SHIT.

Starbuck and Number Six but no Laura Roslin? UM, WHUT? I wholly object! And FYI, list-makers: being hot ≠ "shook science fiction," sry2say. Except for Catwoman.

That's a pretty good list, though I grumble about the Storm inclusion being perfunctory and probably by someone who doesn't know anything about the franchise. Or maybe they honestly DO think Storm was served well by the X-movies, in which case I boggle and would at least like to have a reason.

ETA: Seriously, I'd go with Mystique if I was going to pick somebody from those movies. . .

I wondered if they were going on comics!Storm and simply slotting in Halle Berry into their mental storylines. Which would make for a lot more awesome!Storm, but a lot less sense given their other criteria. *shrug*
