Tiny wee ficlet, not betaed or anything. I absolutely adore writing people's dreams; it doesn't necessarily result in good fic, per se, but it does help me get a better handle on their character. And, um, with this particular character I think I need all the help I can get!

Summary: Arvin figures a few things out when Irina Derevko shows up on the scene again. Set during the missing two years.

Interesting. I like that, psychologically, Arvin feels he killed "Laura" -- perhaps through the affair, through destroying the perfect image that Jack believed in and maybe preached to the world. Or maybe this is wishful thinking on Sloane's part: what he ought to have done, to his way of thinking.

(Then again, given the time frame, Arvin knows now that Irina is the mother of his daughter, so how does that play in?)

Glad you liked it! Part of the reason why I love writing dream fics is that I actually find it almost necessary for the mental health of my personal versions of the characters. I can't sit down and work through Jack's motivations, or Arvin's, without going slightly nuts, so it's just easier to do something like this and see what falls out at the end. Which, um, I suppose explains a lot. :)

So, in conclusion - yes, totally, both of those, and also maybe because he's slightly psychotic. But only slightly. :)

I can so see Sloane wishing he'd done this, at least pre-Nadia, and on some level even post-Nadia. If he'd found out about who and what she was before she faked her death, I think Irina would have been in serious trouble.
