I need a computer, and I may be able to afford it, knock on wood. The stuff I want looks like it'll be up to about £450 at Dell, which is only a little cheaper than a Mac mini. So. Options and opinions, people. One down-side is that the mini won't have a DVD drive so I'll have to get that separately. OTOH, everyone assures me up and down that Macs have better OSs and it's worth the money.
I already have most of the peripherals, including a flat screen, so I need to be able to plug those in rather than having to replace them.
Help a girl out with tech know-how?
ETA: I misread the spec, it comes with a disc drive. Srsly, it looks pretty sweet. *is tempted*

Date: 2009-12-12 01:58 pm (UTC)I don't think Macs have better OS. Or better anything. I hate the way the files are arranged, and the menu system. The fact is that anything a Mac can do, a PC can do just as well. I know a lot of people think one is better than the other, but frankly that is just mac vs pc propaganda on both sides. They can both do anything just as well as the other depending on what specs the machine you buy has. The only thing that matters is your preference.
In terms of OS, I know there have been a lot of complaints about Vista, but the new Windows 7 is out, and any pc you're likely to buy will have it. I'd kill to have Windows 7! I might even upgrade for Christmas. It looks awesome!
I'm not saying you should buy the mac, because I wouldn't, but I would avoid buying a Dell if I were you.
