People on my flist should all have already read this, but just in case they haven't -

"The Mirror of Love" by Alan Moore

Gloriously illustrated, this is a narrative poem about the history of persecution of same-sex love. It's sparse, almost spartan, but manages to pack one hell of an emotional punch.

Highly recommended.
