So I was writing a short&sweet answer to the alias500 challenge of 'letters', then did a word-count. I'm about two-thirds of the way through.

I have Alias questions. Someone help meeee! *wibble* These are pretty much all Jack-centric (and I shoul know them, but I fail. *trembly lip*)

1. Was Jack's dad military (or CIA)? Or do we know anything about him other than 'he left a lot'?
2. Do we know which universities Jack went to, either for his undergrad or his postgrad?
3. Do we know whether he did his PhD on game theory, or is that fanon extrapolation from him being a game theorist on the show?
4. What was Laura's maiden name?
5. Do we ever know how / when Jack and Arvin meet?
6. Did Jack go straight into field agent training, or did he do strategy work for the CIA first?
7. Did he ever have a job before the CIA, or was recruited much like Sydney?
8. What was Laura's cover job? And where was she supposed to have got her doctorate in literature from?
9. Ages (because I am shallow and lookist, and tend to age down quite a bit) - backwards work, how old is Jack in S4 (or any other season)? Or, better yet, when was he born? Where? Brothers? Sisters? Pet dog?

I can answer some of that; some of the other questions have no canon answer as far as I know. And still others may have been covered in episodes I'm going to see later today *g*.

5. They met in 1971, at Langley. Sloane says so back in Season One, and it's unlikely that he's lying about that. (There's a file visible on screen in Season Three that contradicts this slightly, I think, but you can go with 1971.)

8. She was a college teacher of some kind (I think in the US all such people are called professors, although you'd have to check with an actual American) probably teaching English literature.

9. Jonathan Donahue Bristow was born in 1950 in London, Ontario. On the 16th of March, according to the little booklet thing that comes with the Season One DVDs. (Sloane, incidentally, was born a few months later on the 31st of October in Brooklyn, New York.) The show opened in 2001 when they were both 51, but since Alias does not happen in real time they're both over 55 now. Jack would be around 57 in Season Four, by my rough calculations.

Must go to bed after a TV fun night with my grundbuch, but, off-t he-cuff, Laura was a literature professor at UCLA. Her Ph.D.? No clue.
