I am never drinking again. *clutches head*

In other news, turns out the guy shot by police was actually innocent... and an electrician. Which is going to make Monday at work interesting, as I nearly quit after having a huge row with someone who was all for summary executions (back when we didn't know who the guy was). Readers of this journal will know that I am 1) against capital punishment; 2) against police carrying / using guns; 3) not enamoured by the thought of our police using Israeli counter-terrorist tactics because it means you shoot fucking electricians.

Unsurprisingly, the guy was panicked when a bunch of plainclothes policemen chased after him.

Scenario: A bunch of white guys chase you as a group.

I'd run.

I'd say more but I have to go ward off some of this hangover.

Have you read Isrealization (http://www.livejournal.com/users/imomus/124022.html) by Momus, food for thought.

Yeah. ::sigh:: Not surprised this would happen, unfortunately.

Two guys held him down and a third shot him five times. We may not have the death penalty here, but we do execute you for not being caucasian and in a hurry.

This, weirdly, has made me more angry than the bombings. I have no clue why, but at least I have my rage back.

Oh. Were they plainclothed? Oh. Because, seriously, I missed that, and I've been totally bemused as to why, when told to stop by police with guns, you would not. Things are much clearer now.

I think it's a horrible position to be in. I mean, if they *don't* shoot and then the guy explodes the bomb... You don't have to imagine too hard what the response would be. Stun guns seem like a better plan, however.

Yeah, I mean at the moment it looks just crazy. The story now is nothing like the one they put out at the time, and if the current one is the true version (as I imagine it is) it's inexcusable.

I don't understand at all why they shot- and eight times? It's insane.

It's getting more ridiculous by the day. Last I saw they were blaming the guys doing the surveillance of the flat, and apparently the armed response officers were basically told last minute to challenge the guy. Which goes some way to explaining, I guess, why they appeared to act without any evidence, but still doesn't explain shooting someone who wasn't running or fighting back eleven times. They all screwed up pretty spectacularly.
