Ficathons / Fundraising / Etc

So, everyone and their mum is running a ficathon nowadays, and I'm probably signed up to most of them. So what's the big hurry with starting something new?

Put simply, I want to run a fundraising event, and I think that the easiest way to do this would be to run it online, in the form of a ficathon or similar. The organisation I want to support is CATW International, which campaigns against the trafficking of women and runs sustainable projects to remove the root causes of sexual exploitation.

Would there be interest out there for a ficathon-style fundraising thing, like fanthevote or similar? The format of it would be people offering to write/design icons/draw artwork in return for an $X donation to CATW International, and deadlines etc could be negotiated between artist and recipient.

Thoughts? Would people be interested?

Yes, sign me up! Icons, definitely, but I could write a drabble in one of my roughly A GAZILLION fandoms, too. (No stories; I can't deal with that, but...yes.) Absolutely. Good causes, sign me up.

fabulous! *g* I'm going to let out feelers in a few places for this and gauge reaction in general but, hey, even if we raise a fiver, that's still a fiver more than would have otherwise been donated, right?

I'm a big supporter of CATW International, so while I don't think I'll have time to contribute any stories/artwork/etc to the ficathon, I would definitely be interested in participating on the buying/donating side if it goes ahead.

wnderful! i'm going to put out feelers in various places to see the level of interest, and then, irrespective of the level of interest, i'm going to do it anyway. *g*
