LJ have a response for us.

Some other things they said in the comments.

OK, that settles it. I, for one, do not want to be associated with a site that views pro-anorexia communities as something that fits within LJ's grand vision (despite them being in violation of the ToS, btw!), but deems two 17 yo boys having sex as 'obscene' and 'illegal'. Then denies homophobia by saying, "oh, but some of our best friends are gay!" Of course they are, LJ.

I don't know if I'm moving to GJ or IJ. Ideally, I'd like to get involved in the beta testing of Scribblit, the proposed fandom-driven journal. Either way, this is the straw, etc.

(xposted to all 3 journals.)

Anyone seriously attached to their Vox account...? No?

Then come join me in cancelling the bastard thing. (To do this: log in, click on 'account', then 'account options', and click on 'cancelling account' on the left-hand menu.) The best bit was the very last page, where you could write about why you were cancelling your account.

Seriously therapeutic. Enough cancellationsoacross all non-essential accounts, and we might get somewhere... (and if nothing else, it'll streamline things considerably!).

Here's the thing.

6A/LJ are homophobic asshats. No, you're not paying attention. THEY'RE HOMOPHOBIC ASSHATS.

The recent furore over so-called child pornography (read = anything reported by Warriors for Innocence, which included role-playing journals, anything featuring explicit artwork of any kind, any questionable fic featuring things such as incest etc, even literary studies journals focusing on novels such as Lolita) and the mass strikeout of journals led to 6A/LJ backpedalling furiously to win back their users, with promises that only those journals that actually featured/promoted child pornography would be 1) examined, and 2) dealt with.

Yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] ponderosa121's account was permanently suspended. Why? Because of a piece of artwork depicting an adult Harry and Snape in a sexual position. Let me stress this: she drew a graphic sex scene between two consenting adults, and posted it to an adult community. And her account was summarily removed. It wasn't even striken through, was it? No, because they'd we'd notice, and the lj-strikeout would continue. Instead, if you'll look at how her username now shows up -

... Well. I, for one, am not content to sit around and wait to be erased from existence by homophobic fuckwits.

I AM CALLING FOR 6A/LJ TO OFFER THE 'REFUND' OPTION TO ALL PAID AND PERMANENT ACCOUNT HOLDERS THAT WANT TO LEAVE AS A RESULT OF THIS LATEST RUN-AROUND.

I, for one, do not want to stay here for a moment longer than necessary. Who wants to test how long it is before their particular interpretation of 'obscenity' comes to include all slash and adult fanfic and fanart?

ETA: aaaand... due to LJ's 'no linkings, ZOMG!!' policy, I've had to remove the link to ponderosa's work. Because two men going at it might shock you into deviant practices. Obviously.
