There are only three British actors, and they're all in the same shows.
This must be the reason why John Simm (Sam Tyler) and Philip Glenister (DCI Gene Hunt) were not only in Life on Mars together, but also State of Play, Tuesday, Clocking Off and Heartbeat. True, for Clocking Off and Heartbeat I suspect that they were not in the same episodes, but for State of Play and Tuesday they most certainly are.
I am filled with the urge to play '6 Degrees of Separation' with a whole other bunch of British actors.
Or have banoffee pie.
*thinks*
I may have pie, to be fair.

P.S. Was at a party until a few minutes ago. 'Twere ace. Yes.

Date: 2008-01-05 08:24 am (UTC)But it is ok because Simm is the Master and I have <3'ed Glenister since he was in the bbc/a&e Vanity Fair, in which I shall marry him.
I actually did read an interview with Glenister in which he remarked on the uncanny number of their appearances together.

Date: 2008-01-05 05:36 pm (UTC)I do now! *g* I was listening to the LoM S1 commentaries, and it's like a meeting of the Mutual Admiration Society.

*thinks* OK, but I get to have him in LoM. Deal?
I got the 'Rules of Modern Policing' book (a tie-in authored by DCI Gene Hunt *g*) which is just hysterical, btw. I have officially jumped on board the bandwagon.

Date: 2008-01-06 09:57 pm (UTC)Oh, but you will! You totally, totally will.
Although, to be fair, it helps that he's precisely the sort of guy I'd go ga-ga over in real life. Which... doesn't say great things about my taste in men, does it? *snerk*
But I need to read that book!
You totally have to. Extract:
"I mentioned the clever use of fags earlier (not stubbing them out on your suspect - that can be useful but only as a last resort). When you walk in the room your suspect is on edge, he's tighter than a nun's chuff when the Pope's in town and he's not going to be talking any time soon. Give him a fag. Light it for him. Let him enjoy the relaxing vitamins offered by tabacco for a few seconds. See? He's winding down, starting to think you might be a reasonable bloke, maybe you're even going to let him go in a minute. Don't be afraid to smile either, crack a joke... Look! We're laughing! What good mates we are, settling down for a nice relaxing chat.
Now hit him."
*Genius*
Also, it's supposed to be Chris Skelton's copy, so there's all sorts of adorable comments and scribbles in the margin that are made of cute.
And listen to commentaries, apparently.
They're really, really good! They also talk loads about alternate endings to episodes and different takes on scenes, especially the Warren episode - they went back and redid a bunch of stuff, because the original cuts gave too much away. Then they changed their minds about the ending... I'm such a geek about stuff like that. :)
(Oh - btw, I remember you showing an interest in the faith fic-a-thon idea a while back...
