woot! I got into [livejournal.com profile] merry_smutmas! There goes my resolution of no more ficathons this year! *is not the least bit sorry, MOOHOOHAAHAA!!*

Also, dissertation somehow SHORTER THAN YESTERDAY, OMG!! This is because I've been editing, so, technically, I'm right on the button, word count-wise.

Other things you should know: Paris! Paris! PARIS!!! Yes, I watched The X-Factor, stop snickering - that poor wee girl, the opera singer! Simon loved her, Sharon loved her, Louis loved her, I loved her, and - how brave was she to tell them that she can't go through? And when she burst into tears - oh, the poor lamb! "I wanted Simon to hear me sing-" oh, my sweet child! *cuddles her*

Yes, I am watching The X-factor. Shut your face.

I have my house back! *squees excitedly* Everything is back in place, and I'm catching up on all the cleaning that had to be put on hold for the installation of the new boiler. Also, I'm c. 7,300 words into the dreaded dissertation of DOOM, and at the point where I need to print it off because it's just too damn large and unwieldy to view otherwise. So, that's good. Hoping to get everything except the conclusion done today, so I just have that to finish off tomorrow.

But, in the meantime, I've been a-watching LOST season 2, and have some very very very important comments to make, namely:

spoilers! )

Right. Back to the dissertation I go. Send chocolate!

I'm 4,567 words into it, and already my brain hurts. This is entirely because I'm avoiding the postmodernist bits, and I know that I need to tackle them at some point. They're just sitting there, glaring at me, all bright red and in block capitals, waiting for me to turn them into actual points. When did postmodernism get so difficult? I remember back when I found it the most natural thing in the world.

Only a tiny wee bit of that is actual text; the rest is bullet points regarding everything except the main body of the argument. Now, suppose that I were to finish this by the end of these ten days, as I fully intend to do. Would some kind soul be interested in reading it over and letting me know what they think? I'd owe you cake. And stuff.

On memes and people getting pissed off and, damnit, just plain rudeness )

So, on that happy note, I am going to go and read about Audit & Assurance. I have just realised that my dissertation interviews can be conducted as a gender audit, which obviously makes me happy as 1) this means that the research methodology bit is practically already written, 2) the work will be more robust, and 3) the final thing will have a point for the organisations I'm looking at.

So, I had a meeting with my dissertation supervisor today.
